The Awakened Woman Alumni: Investing in Water Access for Rural Africa
Your donation helps us to create sustainability for schools in rural Zimbabwe. With your contribution, we will be drilling a water well to provide clean and safe water at one of our rural schools called Zhimonja Secondary School. Rural Schools in Zimbabwe and their communities are facing the negative impacts of climate change.
Water resources are dwindling, sources of groundwater are depleting as the water tables fall to significantly lower levels, making it a challenge for school children to access clean and safe water. Your donation will be used to drill a solar powered water well/borehole at the school.
They will also be provided with the resources to create a 1 hectare sized vegetable garden, with fencing, irrigation and a 1000-litre water tank which will enable the school to establish a commercial garden which will generate revenue for the school to fund resources and equipment, scholarships to help students to attend college and also provide a meal at school.
Your support will help us to provide access to water for schools and communities in rural Zimbabwe.

*Creating sustainability for the school and community to be able to grow their own produce which is then sold to provide income for the school.

* upgrade and repair damaged classrooms,
* pay teachers,
* provide lunch for students each day and

1. drill a solar powered water well at Zhimonja Secondary School
2. establish the vegetable garden, which includes a) fencing a 1-hectare vegetable garden, b) installing an irrigation system and 10,000 liter water tank to support the garden.
